Lesson
Mock Interviews: Day 1
Summary
A great interview partner isn't the one who says "you were amazing." It's the one who tells you exactly what to fix. This is Day 1 of 2 dedicated to formal 1-on-1 job interviews with the teacher.
Bellringer: Feedback That Actually Helps
- Display Option A and Option B feedback statements and have students lock in a choice in 1 minute
- Reveal that Option B wins because it names two exact fixes — finishing the STAR result and pen-tapping — and connect it to today's goal
Instruction
- Explain today's split: Group A does formal 1-on-1 teacher interviews, Group B runs peer practice rotations
- Walk through the Formal Evaluation Criteria rubric — Non-Verbal & Attire (25%), Company Fit & Hook (25%), STAR Execution (35%), Reverse Questioning (15%)
- Keep this section brief so most of class time goes to interviews
Activity: Formal Interviews & Peer Rotations
- Call Group A candidates up individually for a 3-minute formal interview with the teacher, scored on the rubric
- Pair Group B students to run two 6-minute interview rotations with hidden question lists, swapping roles and recording two observations each round
Wrap-Up & Assessment
- Group A: Write down 1 key piece of feedback you received during your teacher evaluation today.
- Group B: Write down 1 specific adjustment you will make to your responses before your formal evaluation tomorrow.

Unit 4: Job Search & Interview Prep

Interview Prep
Hiring managers decide whether you're a serious contender before you've answered a single technical question. Explore first impressions, the STAR method for behavioral questions, and how to turn the interview around by asking smart questions of your own.

Mock Interviews: Day 2
This is Day 2 of 2 with 1-on-1 formal teacher interviews. This activity puts that theory into practice with live interview rotations, giving every student either a formal evaluation or hands-on peer practice.
